Choosing a Board Game manufacturer...

When you're ready to select a manufacturer, it's essential to determine the number of games you want to produce. This decision will help you identify the right manufacturer for your needs. For instance, when we were developing "The Flood," we were initially uncertain about the quantity we needed.

"The Flood" features many unique components like punchboards, tiles, and more. We sought a reputable manufacturer with experience in producing similar games and a minimum order quantity of 1,500 units. We were torn between Longpack Games and Panda Games.

Our final decision came down to the cost per unit. With 32 SKUs, this was a colossal undertaking for any factory.

After manufacturing "The Flood," we discovered that factories often outsource the production of miniatures to toy manufacturers and molds to specialized mold makers. While some may claim that "everything is done in-house," this isn't always true, especially for complex board games that require various specialties.

HJM Board Games

For "Rise of Babel," we chose HJM Board Games. One of the key highlights of working with them was our project manager, who ensured timely communication. The project manager plays a crucial role as the intermediary between you and the factory, managing materials, timelines, advice, and more. HJMs ability to produce high quality prototypes and their flexibility with manufacturing is great, if you want to learn more about them head to their website.
