This is one of my personal favorite topics: Art & Graphic design
After your core mechanics are present, and the game has been played multiple times as well as tested, and you have decided to self publish your game- the next step is commissioning Art and Graphic Design.
The style of Art
Art ranges from abstract to hyper realistic depending on what you think looks best for your game as well as your budget. There are 1000's of Artists that you can find online that are very talented. If you are at a loss as to where to find artists head to facebook and find a board game group, post and ask if there are any artists available.
If you want to surf and check out different art styles we recommend Artstation.com keep in mind that some artists here post their art but they are not available for freelance work while others are.
Some of the artists we recommend are ones we have worked with before:
Ben Maier
Micro Paganessi
Andrew Bosley
Elif Siebenpfeiffer
Art prices vary in price due to size + complexity. Consider asking the artists about their creative process and giving them a pointer with the art direction for each piece. Make sure the artists that you choose gives you preliminary sketches as well as the ability to contribute your input into the final Art piece.
